Poor weather did not deter a select group of members from attending PIC’s most recent “members only” spring Getty Villa tour & luncheon on Sunday, March 12. Once again Dr. Sara Cole, Ph.D. [Yale] joined the group for a wonderful lunch and gave them a behind the scenes overview & origins of the acclaimed “Nubia-Jewels of Ancient Sudan’ as Curator of the exhibition, which is on loan from the Boston Museum of Fine Art.
Joining the Patrons for this event was the newly awarded Ph.D. [UCLA & 2017 Casola Prize winner] Dr. Joseph Tumolo, who is now engaged at the Getty museum in their publications and research department.
After a lovely luncheon, Dr. Cole led the Patron members on a most wonderful tour which included many wondrous artifacts of jewelry spanning 2800 years of Nubian society. Her incredible knowledge of the ancient works on display and the back ground history of the ancient periods added to the experience.
