More than two dozen members and guests signed up for the Patrons of Italian Culture annual Ferragosto event held at Locanda Positano in Marina del Rey, on Sunday, Aug. 18, as reported by Paul Romano, Patrons President.
Good friend and Gen. Mgr., Stefano Baccianella & his staff out did themselves with a fine selection of luncheon entrees, accompanied by selected Italian wines. from Sicily, Tuscany and the Alto Adige.
After the luncheon one of two Casola Prizes was awarded to Mr. Jonathan Terbush, an Electrical Engineering student from Chapman Univ. Jonathan gave a wonderful thank you to the members and told of his upcoming spring 2025 study program in Italy.
A second Casola Prize was awarded to Ms. Shea Sorrentino of UC Berkeley, who is currently in Bologna, and part of a European study program to assist with refugee and homeless issues throughout Europe.
At the conclusion of the luncheon the Patron members held their traditional prize raffle, with many fine Italian treasures. Members then toured the 'fine art gallery' of Owner and artist Ms. Patrizia Martiradonna whose gallery is part of Locanda.
