Dear Patrons of Italian Culture,
It is difficult to express in words how deeply honored and grateful I am to have received the Casola Prize scholarship for 2025. There is something extremely rewarding about being rooted in one's culture and to be supported by others alike, so I thank you for honoring Italian-American heritage in this way; by supporting young scholars.
As an Italian-American graduate student at UCLA, my research within European cinema has inevitably become influenced by my “Italianness,” and for this I am both proud and inspired to uncover what makes this a unique yet connective experience in academia.
With this scholarship, I will not only be able to travel to Italy to carry out archival research in Bologna at Cineteca, but I will acquire knowledge and skills (linguistically, socially, culturally) that I will carry with me all my life. For this I am eternally grateful and I thank you, patrons of Italian culture!
